1. Fort Cornwallis

Build by Captain Francis Light when he discovered Penang island in late 18th century. This fort is build to guard over the island's cape. Visiting hours: 0900-1800, close on Sunday.

2. Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower

This clock tower was built in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, with each foot represents a year in the Queen's reign.

3. St. George's Church

It is the oldest Anglican church in Southeast Asia that developed in 1817-1718.

4. Penang Town Hall

A very famous social venue for Penang VIPs back in 1880's. The classic design of colonial elegance was used as the movie scene in "Anna and the King".

6. Goddess of Mercy Temple

It is mainly dedicated for Kuan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy, the temple was first built in 1728 and took about 72 years to fully complete all the structures that we see today in 1800.

7. Teochew Temple

In 2006, it receive the Award of the Merit UNESCO Asia-Pacific for Culture Heritage Conservation. It was built in 1855 and move current location in 1870.

8. Kapitan Keling Mosque

Founded in 1801, the largest historic mosque in George Town. Design in Moghul architecture, it features beautiful minarets and domes.

9. Cheah Kongsi

This is Cheah clan temple with Chinese traditional architecture with the blend of British lion heads on the temple. The Cheah clan is the oldest Hokkien clans in Penang and the British lion heads is the symbolic icon of its loyalty to British colonial powers. The temple completed in 1870s. Operation hours: 0900-1700 daily.

10. Khoo Kongsi

This is belong to Khoo Kongsi clan and completed in 1906. It is one of the most wealthy clan in Penang. It is been renovated in late 1990s, all the materials and craftsman masters are from China to make it back to as original as possible. Visiting hours: 0900-1700 daily.

11. Mahamariamman Temple

Built in 1883, oldest Hindu temple in George Town. The distinctive feature of the temple is its gopuram with 38 exquisitely carved Hindu deities.

12. The Pinang Peranakan Mansion

Former home for Kapitan Chung Keng Kwee, now is serve as private museum that holds 1000 antiques and collectibles depicting the life of the Straits Chinese or Peranakan as known by the locals. Visiting hours: 0930-1700 (Monday to Friday), 0930-1500 (Saturday), close on Sunday and Public Holiday.

13. Clan Jetties

Along the Weld Quay are the most famous Clan Jetties as for the homes of fisherman, dock workers, traders. It was built in 19th century, the houses are all built over the sea on stilts and are connected with wooden walkways.

14. Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion

Also known as "Blue Mansion", former home of tycoon Cheong Fatt Tze. Guided tours daily at 1100 and 1500.

15. Little India

This is the South Indian culture location where the earliest Indian settlement happened here. It is the island's epicenter of Indian music, savory cuisine, exotic spices and authentic goods of South Indian.

16. Komtar

Built in 1978, used to be the tallest building in Southeast Asia with total of 65 storeys. Inside of the building are government offices, department stores, shopping malls, business hub and others.

17. Gurney Drive

This seafront walkway is named after Sir Henry Gurney, a High Commissioner of Malaya. It is famous of restaurants and seafront hawkers stalls, and a famous shopping complex named Gurney Plaza with a lot of international boutiques.

18. Wat Chayamangkalaram

Wat Chayamangkalaram is a Thai Buddhist temple that built in 1845 on the land granted by Queen Victoria as the token of goodwill to Thailand. It is famous of its Reclining Buddha statue in the world, measures of 33 meters with gold plated body. Operating hours: 0600-1730.

19. Dharmikarama Burmese Temple

There is a giant standing Buddha status built with marble. It is very crowded during Thailand's traditional New Year Day - Songkran festivities.

20. Kek Lok Si temple

Also known as "Temple of Supreme Bliss". Development started in 1890, in 1930 a 7 storey handcrafted "Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas". It is one of the beautiful religion architectural wonders with its Chinese octagonal base, Thai middle tier and Burmese crown. Recently a fully completed Pagado with 30.2m height Kuan Yin bronze statue is open for public.

21. Penang Hill

It's height of 830m above sea level, you can have a panoramic view over the whole Penang. At the summit, there is a flower garden, a mini bird park, a Hindu temple, bungalows and guest houses.

22. Tropical Fruit Farm

The 25 acre tropical fruit farm opened in 1993, main purpose is to preserving Malaysia's green heritage. It has more than 250 types of tropical fruits around the world.

23. Snake Temple

Built in 1850, also known as Temple of Azure Cloud to dedicated to Choo Sor Kong, a Buddhist priest who was believed to have extraordinary healing powers. A local legendary said it was donated by a folklore to have the pit vipers shelter from danger. Operating hours: 0600-1700.

24. War Museum

It was built for remnants of an old British fort which defended Penang's coat from attack. The museum also serve as memorial place to those who scarified defending the country as well as aims to be an educational center about life in Penang during World War II. Operation hours: 0900-1800.

25. Penang Bridge

The first land link between mainland and island is the Penang Bridge that was opened in 1985. It spans across 13.5 km to Peninsular Malaysia. It receives Grand Award in the United States of America Engineering Excellence in 1986.

There is a free shuttle bus service in George Town at 2 route: Jetty to Komtar, Komtar to Jetty.

Bus: Rapid Penang is the new and most popular popular transport in Penang.

Taxi: No easy to get anywhere in Penang, particular can get Taxi at tourist spots, shopping malls and hotels.
