Travel Yunnan

Colorful Yunnan of China, you really can tell once you have been there before, it is really a tourism paradise of the world. Yunnan is a very big province at southern of China covering 16 prefectures and it is the border into China from Laos, North Vietnam and Myanmar. As compare to other southern province in China, Yunnan is located at higher sea level, so some the weather there is much cooler but very strong sun-light throughout the year. In term of culture, Yunnan province is the most diverse one as it has many aborigines or tribes since the very ancient China, out of 55 officially registered ethnic minorities, you can find almost 25 of them in Yunnan province alone, hence about 30% of its population is not inherit from Han clam or Han dynasty.

There are so many famous tourist spots in Yunnan and all of them are really very unique and truly unmatchable natural beauty. Most of these places are in the cities of Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, Jinghong, Deqin, and Shangrila. Below are some highlights of these places with some short introduction.

1. Kunming - Capital of Yunnan

Famous of its ever Spring weather and bright sunny day. Stone Forest is the must visit spot, you can feel the natural crafting beauty over this stone forest. Tianchi Lake is another good one, the largest highland lake in Yunnan.

2. Dali - Old Town and Buddhist Kingdom

Must see places include Dali Old Town, a pretty small one but very interesting as the formation of the town is inside the fort, you still can see the fort gates surrounding it.

ErHai Lake, one the biggest highland lake also, do visit the Guanyin temple in the middle of the lake.

Tang Dynastic 3 Pagodas, the very oldest temple dated 1200 years ago. Captured a lot of Buddhism related manuscripts, artifacts, stories, and many more.

3. Deqin - Famous of Snow Mountain Hiking, Trekking and Climbing

Mostly influenced by Tibetan as it is the closes city to Tibet. Other than many marvelous snow mountains view, Feilai Temple is another good place to visit.

4. Jinghong - famous of Xishuangbanna is located here

Xishuangbanna alone is already a worth wide places to cover in Jinghong. Xishuangbanna is famous of its natural scenic view of wide open space dancing grass, rare plants and wildlife, multifarious folklore and some tourist spots like Black and White Pagodas, Manfeilong Pagodas, Menglun Tropical Botanical Garden and many more.

5. Lijiang - Famous of its Old Town

Ones must not miss out the Lijiang Old City with 800 years of history. Hike up Jade Dragon Snow Mountain to see the water source of YangTze river.

6. Shangrila or Zhongdian - The Heaven on Land

Again must see the old town in Shangrila. Hiking up into the snow mountains is another good leisure activities. Another spot must visit is the Songzanlin Monastery.
